On September 25, 2019, the East Parker County Chamber Board of Directors approved a resolution in support of the Aledo ISD Bond. The bond package includes funding for two new campuses, renovations to three existing campuses, replacement furniture at three elementary schools, land for future school sites, and school buses.
The East Parker County Chamber Board Resolution reads as follows:
WHEREAS, the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce enriches, promotes and advocates for business growth that enhances our members and community; and
WHEREAS, the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce advocates for more workforce development & economic growth in East Parker County, and
WHEREAS, the Aledo ISD school district is the economic engine in East Parker County; and
WHEREAS, the Aledo ISD bond will not create a school district tax rate increase; and
WHEREAS, a school district is required by law to hold an election and get permission from voters to sell bonds for capital improvements, and
WHEREAS, 38 community members representing a diversity of demographics and geography, including teachers from each campus, created and recommended a bond package, and
WHEREAS, the Aledo ISD is one of the largest employers in East Parker County with 725 employees; and
WHEREAS, the Aledo ISD Middle School is projected to meet maximum capacity in 2020-2021; and
WHEREAS, Aledo ISD Elementary is projected to exceed maximum capacity in 2021-2022; and
WHEREAS, the Aledo ISD student enrollment is projected to double within 10 years; and
WHEREAS, it is critical to invest in the future business leaders by providing adequate learning space & a safe learning environment;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce board of directors unanimously voted in favor of and voted to support the 2019 Aledo ISD Bond.
ADOPTED THIS 25th DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2019 BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE EAST PARKER COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
